About the Apprenticeship
  • Apprenticeship is a viable alternative to traditional Cosmetology or Barbering School.
  • Get to work and train one-on-one in the salon or shop in a paid 2-year apprenticeship with a qualified, educated professional Stylist or Barber of your choice*
  • Earn a wage, train under someone you know and respect, and build your clientele if you wish within your 2-year training period.
*(All apprentice or students must find their own Trainer/Mentor who is willing to employ them 32-40 hours per week and pay them according to our wage scale, currently starting at $10.50 per hour).

Requirements:

1. You must have a Trainer/Employer (Licensed Barber or Cosmetologist) before entering into the Apprenticeship program.

Beware of programs that will accept you into the apprenticeship or Pre-Apprenticeship and charge you a fee without a trainer in place.

2. You must take the Pre-Apprentice Course of instruction and Exam before entering into the actual Apprenticeship.
    • The Pre-apprentice course is a prerequisite and a separate course from the actual Apprenticeship program, where you are instructed on salon procedures, client protection, sanitation and disinfection procedure, and safety procedures.  You must pass the written exam for each segment to proceed with the apprenticeship.
    • This Pre-Apprentice course is administered by me or one of my representatives at my salon location, or designated Satellite location, After you have taken the pre-apprentice course, you will receive a completion and a certificate is issued.
3. On-the-job training with a Trainer(s) of your choice. All apprentice applicants must find their own Trainer/ Employer (a licensed Cosmetologist or Barber).
    • If the Trainer is not the Establishment Owner, the apprentice must have the permission of the Establishment Owner to apprentice in the salon and be able to provide Worker's Comp.
